Research Intern - Machine Learning, Wearable Health Device
The Simulation team of Helsinki-based Device Concept Lab is seeking an intern to support the transfer-learning machine learning for wearable health device modeling and simulation. As a part of the simulation team, the intern will contribute in development of simulation methods for development of wearable devices, such as smart watches, focusing on the development of machine learning model based on foundational models of wearable health monitoring.
Main Tasks:
- Responsible for utilizing the simulation models of wearable health for virtual population creation.
- Responsible for developing machine learning based on transfer-learning paradigm and generated virtual dataset.
- Responsible for data analysis tasks, including but not limited to data collection, preprocessing, outlier detection, regression and classification, and visualization.
- Responsible for version-controlling the codes and dataset produced in this project.
- Responsible for data interpretation, documentation, and presentation to assist the stakeholders with the decision making processes.
Requirements:
- PhD student with background in machine learning, computer science, mathematics, statistics, physics, and mechanical engineering with demonstrated proficiency in:
a) physics-informed neural network, RNNs, CNNs, fully-connected feedforward NNs, attention mechanism, and transformers;
b) DL model developments with PyTorch, Keras, Tensorflow, and from scratch (if needed); and
c) signal processing.
- Demonstrable experience in python programming, statistical analysis, and deep learning model development with ML libraries including PyTorch, Keras, Tensorflow and Scikit-Learn.
- Proficiency in the programming languages: Matlab, C/C++ or Python.
- Fluent in written and spoken English.
It's a plus if you have:
- Track record in publishing at prestigious ML conferences.
- Knowledge about the physiological signals such as optical signals, including photoplethysmography (PPG), medical imaging and light-tissue interaction, the radiative transfer equation, computational fluid dynamics and biomechanics.
